Perella Weinberg Partners (PWP) is looking for an experienced Payroll Associate.  The ideal candidate will be highly detail oriented and hands-on, with a strong proficiency in Microsoft software applications. This individual will thrive in a fast-paced environment.  The Payroll Associate will be responsible for the global payrolls on a semi-monthly and monthly pay cycle. Current payroll jurisdictions include United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Canada. Other responsibilities include payroll reconciliations, providing financial reporting support and assisting with equity compensation related matters (e.g. RSU releases).

This position sits within the Corporate Finance Team located in Houston and reports to the Global Payroll Director.  The candidate will interface and liaise with colleagues across the broader corporate function and interact with employees worldwide on compensation inquires. Other groups that this individual will collaborate with daily include Compensation & Equity, Benefits, Human Resources and Tax.

Responsibilities:

  • Process global payrolls and off cycle payrolls as needed
  • Review and audit payroll data ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll wage & hour laws
  • Process payroll updates accurately and timely, including new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, and internship programs
  • Audit retro-pay calculations for reasonableness and completeness
  • Audit non-exempt employees’ timesheets to ensure accuracy
  • Assist with payroll testing of Workday’s new releases as well as for new payroll configurations and enhancements across various functions globally
  • Audit tax elections to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Reconcile global payrolls by cross referencing source documents: HRIS and external reports
  • Process on-demand payments as needed
  • Partner with our internal business units on tasks such as Workday projects, implementations, open enrollments, global mobility and equity compensation
  • Compilation of payroll documentation for 401K, SOX and global audits
  • Collaborate with controller and/or accountants monthly on payroll variance analysis
  • Plan and forecast global payroll funding requirements for treasury management
  • Assist in the design, documentation and implementation of procedures to streamline payroll processes
  • Assist with reports and data analysis requests as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred 
  • Workday experience is highly preferred
  • Global payroll experience is preferred
  • Solid understanding of payroll federal/states wages & hour laws and regulations
  • Strong understanding of taxable wages and compensation, taxable benefits, global quarterly and annual wage & tax statements, and state filings
  • Equity compensation experience is preferred
  • At 4 least years of direct responsibility for execution of payroll
  • Experience with creating and customizing Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) integrations in Workday is preferred
  • Functional understanding of Workday Report Writer formal training and experience writing Advance, Matrix, and Composite Reports
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong time management skills
