2021 Summer Geoscience Intern
This dynamic 170+ person firm is seeking a Summer Geoscience Intern to join its Integrated Subsurface Team in Houston, TX and perform regional basin studies, provide geologic support to live projects and contribute to the expansion of the firm’s technical knowledge base.
TPH’s Integrated Subsurface Team (IST) is a 15-person team composed of geologists, engineers, data scientists and technical professionals, all with relevant industry experience. The IST’s mandate is to have the most rigorous understanding of the subsurface in order to work hand-in-hand with clients to create custom-tailored technical analyses. TPH IST bridges the gap between subsurface and financial valuation to maximize value for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Team: Work closely with engineers and financial professionals to develop comprehensive subsurface models, primarily for North American unconventional oil and gas plays
- Mapping: Geologic mapping from public and private data sources
- Petrophysics: Log analysis and mapping from core analysis to volumetrics
- Presentations: Creating content for and delivering data room presentations to buyers, pitches to prospective clients, and other presentations
- Data handling: QC and filter data for virtual datarooms, assist geotechs with maintaining several dynamic geoscientific databases
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in Graduate program
- Prior intern or industry experience with an E&P company a plus
- Familiarity with GeoGraphix and/or Petra software packages ideal but will train on the job
- Fulsome understanding of log interpretation, petrophysics, sequence stratigraphy, and structural geology
- Intangibles: Results-focused, strong work ethic, team-oriented, self-starter, excellent communication and public speaking skills
